Nicaragua Goes Green

Nicaragua is ending it’s dependence on foreign oil by using it’s natural resources, Water, Wind, Geothermal and Solar Energy.

almost 6% of the energy supplied to the residents of Nicaragua is produced by alternative energy sources.  the windmills that dot the landscape and the coastline, provide a constant supply of  clean green homegrown power; at at time when the government of Nicaragua balked at paying upwards of $145.00 per barrel for commercially imported fuel.

We applaud their brilliance in investing in their green growth. this is what will kick start the stabilization of their economy. it will no doubt make Nicaragua a model for smaller economies faced with the same tumultuous power problems.

Nicaragua successfully ended the rolling blackouts which plagued the country; by installing its own power plant run by these wind turbines. Arctas Capital Group LP of Houston, Texas, is the lead development company on the project. they are planning more megawatt generator facility installations in the near future; guaranteed to provide even more of the energy needed by the country’s citizens.

Nicaragua is beginning production of it’s own native grown corn based Ethanol for use by Drivers, to cut their dependence on Foreign Oil even further.  Presently their foreign oil imports are provided at at deep discount by their oil rich neighbor, Venezuela. their goal is to reduce their dependence on outside fuel sources to just 3% by 2013.

Geothermal Energy is also being developed for energy production; with the assistance of both India and Russia. Iran and Brazil are lending a hand in the development of alternative fuel independence in Nicaragua. both are involved in the construction of Ethanol Production Facilities in Nicaragua.  Ethanol is used extensively in Brazil and it helped to right the Brazilian Energy Picture - freeing millions of Brazilian drivers to again drive their cars. presently it fuels the school buses and many of the cars of Nicaragua.

Twin four hundred foot tall windmills for generating wind-power were installed by an Indian Firm - Suzlon Energy Ltd. of Pune, India, near the twin volcanoes’ Concepcion and Maderas on Lake Nicaragua’s Ometepe Island. they have become tourist attractions as well as a part of the countries energy grid.  that’s truly marvelous in our book.

It’s apparent that Nicaragua’s leap into the twenty first century green energy field, will undoubtedly make it a model for many of the partner countries to showcase, as a success.  We hope that America’s New Green Team has a look at the cooperation of the countries involved - and has a go at their own cooperative development efforts; to Green America’s Energy Platform.

This is a fantastic way forward. Developing Nations have this added advantage of going green in a much more rapid manner as they have not developed their industrialized infrastructure. Great move and by the way keep up the good work. I love your header.
